Being Human speaks to the unsung heroes of India who have gone several extra miles, put someone else first, shown incredible courage and selflessness all to make the world a better place.

Here are the individuals who truly reaffirm our faith in humanity. And in Being Human.

Ankit Kawatra founded ‘Feeding India’ in 2014 after he witnessed food for at least 10,000 people getting wasted in a wedding. His NGO serves nutritious meals to those in need by collecting extra food from restaurants, colleges, and homes in 57 cities with 8,500 volunteers. It has served 11 million meals till date.

Ankit believes that only sharing makes us more human.

Manorama Paathshaala is a neighborhood learning centre aimed at providing education and opportunity for some of the most vulnerable children in Mumbai. Gopal Baranwal  himself studied at this centre and now volunteers there. He teaches underprivileged children. Seeing him come from the same background as most of the other children there, they look up to him as their inspiration.

Gopal believes it’s your willingness to share that makes you rich.

Azhar Maqsusi is the founder of ‘Hunger Has No Religion’, which provides free food to the needy in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and 6 other locations in different states of India. Under this program around 100 men, women, and children are fed on a regular basis.

Virali Modi, a Disability Rights Activist is the creator of two very successful campaigns where her determination made many railway platforms, trains, and even restaurants totally accessible by building ramps for the physically challenged.

Virali reminds us that a determined mind makes a human being more strong.

Ashok Nayak founded ‘Raktdaan’, a blood call centre where you can get blood free of cost. Ashok believes that blood is a thing which cannot be produced in a factory. So it is our responsibility to make it available and donate for humanity.

It’s this humane gesture that makes him one of a kind.

Beena Rao is the founder of ‘Prayas’ which conducts free coaching classes for the underprivileged. She started by giving moral education to slum children by conducting free workshops for them. Around 5000 children have benefitted since she founded this organisation.

For Beena the most valuable gift that can be given is moral values.

Green Souls actively addresses environmental, health, and community issues by practicing sustainable urban farming in Mumbai. This group introduced more than 7000 urban

youth to organic farming and other earth care activities, inspiring a sustainable lifestyle and a greener Mumbai. Their community farm produce goes to less privileged children undergoing cancer treatment in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

People like Sabita, Manasvini and Udit make all of us conscious to give back to the environment.
